This summer a star falls. The chase begins.
“Stardust,” based on the best-selling graphic
novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, takes audiences on an adventure that
begins in a village in England and ends up in places that exist in an
imaginary world. A young man named Tristan (Charlie Cox) tries to win the
heart of Victoria (Sienna Miller), the beautiful but cold object of his
desire, by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star. His journey takes him
to a mysterious and forbidden land beyond the walls of his village. On his
odyssey, Tristan finds the star, which has transformed into a striking girl
named Yvaine (Claire Danes).
However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star. A king’s (Peter
O’Toole) four living sons – not to mention the ghosts of their three dead
brothers – all need the star as they vie for the throne. Tristan must also
overcome the evil witch, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer), who needs the star to make
her young again. As Tristan battles to survive these
threats, encountering a pirate named Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) and
a shady trader named Ferdy the Fence
(Ricky Gervais) along the way, his quest changes. He must now win the heart of
the star for himself as he discovers the
meaning of true love.

SIENNA ABOUT THE MOVIE
"I worked with [director] Matthew Vaughn on 'Layer Cake,' and
the man who plays the lead, Charlie Cox, was in 'Casanova' with me," Miller
enthused. "So it was just a no-brainer."
"I had two weeks off and [thought] 'Let's run around England
in a corset!, it's not a big part at all, but fun."

ABOUT CASTING SIENNA FOR THE MOVIE
He denies that casting Miller as his sparring partner was a
nod to her own status as a regular subject of celebrity gossip. "When her name
was brought up I didn't know who she was, and I would have to be reminded of
why I should even know who she was. For me it was important to get a really
good actor and not do some sort of stunt casting and hire an actress that's
just known for being a tabloid sensation. I would have been scared to death to
work that way and not know if somebody could really handle the part."
Miller's interview on the Layer Cake DVD convinced him that
she was different from the characters she had played in that film and Alfie
(Casanova having not been released at that point). "There was just something
real about her and gracious, and I thought that she could bring those
qualities to Katya." He offered her the role before a script was even ready,
and she jumped at the chance to work with him.
